Nomination Requirements

Any member of the USC community (faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, and trustees) may nominate a potential candidate.

We welcome nominations of individuals with distinguished accomplishments in any field, whether academic, professional, creative, or public service. Nominees need not be currently affiliated with USC to be considered.

Current USC faculty, students, staff, administrators, or trustees may not be nominated, except when proposed by the President of the University.

Every nomination is reviewed. The Honorary Degrees Committee evaluates candidates based on integrity, distinction, and lasting impact.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is essential to maintain the integrity of the selection process and to protect the dignity of nominees:

  • Nominees must not be informed that they are under consideration.
  • Nominators should not solicit letters of support from individuals outside the university, or anyone affiliated with USC that is not a co-nominator.
  • Any breach of confidentiality will disqualify the nomination from consideration.
  • Nominators are not notified of the process or outcome of nominations.
